ABOUT THE CREATOR

Before the notebooks, there were stories told aloud.

David’s father would spin fantastical tales for him and his siblings. He was their first storyteller. To David, the telling seemed effortless. A few words, an idea, and suddenly there was somewhere else to be.

David remembers the feeling of entering those worlds.

From there, he went looking for more on the page: Shakespeare, Poe, and C. S. Lewis. He also explored more recent fiction and Eastern literature. Poe’s atmosphere, mystery, and psychological tension left the deepest mark. His own writing grew from those worlds: short stories, poems, and plays.

For more than a decade, David built a career outside fiction. He learned how people turn ideas into work: how they organize, produce, communicate, and negotiate.
